CIBJO, the World Jewelery Confederation based in Switzerland, is hosting a webinar about the bold beauty of modern cultured pearl jewelry in cooperation with sponsor, the Cultured Pearl Association of America (CPAA). “Reimagining the Pearl, Youthful, Bolder and Edgier” takes place online at 12 noon EDT on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021; interested parties may register to attend by clicking here. Visionary jewelry designers and manufacturers are appealing to younger consumers with innovative pearl jewelry designs and niche looks that challenge the pearl’s dated image. Pearls are uniquely positioned to intrigue Millennial and Generation Z shoppers through sustainable production practices that benefit aquatic environments around the world.
An expert panel will gather to discuss the subject. Panelists include: Jennifer Heebner, executive director of the CPAA and the editorial director of JenniferHeebner.com; Melanie Georgacopoulos, owner and creative director of a London-based jewelry brand of the same name and head designer of M/G Tasaki, a collaboration with Japan’s Tasaki group; Peggy Grosz, senior vice president at New York-City-headquartered Assael Inc., where she is in charge of product development and design; Sean Gilson, a groundbreaking master jeweler with a studio in Connecticut and a workshop in New York; and Patricia Kiley Faber, co-owner of the Aaron Faber Gallery in New York City and curator of its contemporary jewelry exhibitions and permanent collections. CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri will welcome webinar participants, and the webinar will be co-moderated by Edward Johnson and Steven Benson.
